Fruit & Fibre Cereal – too hot to handle?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

My kind husband let me lie in today (well it’s in his best interest really or he gets to spend the day with a dragon!) and I was just having a late breakfast of dry fruit and fibre cereal. I love dry cereal, the milk just makes it go soggy – crunchy is so much better! Rudy decided to join me and helped himself to a bowl out the cupboard and after I’d added the milk to his, we started having a chat about going swimming today and how nice mummy thought the cereal was, and he was such a good boy for having the healthy fruit and fibre instead of the Crunchy Nuts. “I like fruit and fire mummy” Rudy kept saying. Oh bless him saying fire, sometimes I don’t want to correct them as they sound so cute when they get it wrong!

Well the Julian Bowen bunk bed’s up! It looks smart and the boys love it! Very pleased. Bradley had his first night on the top bunk last night, and the bottom bunk is still unslept in, although I was half-tempted to retreat to the bottom bunk this morning when Rudy made an appearance in our room at 5am – only I couldn’t be bothered to move!

It took Cy about 3 hours to put together, could have been quicker but Rudy was in bed asleep so he didn’t want to use the drill – this did result in very sore fingers and stiff wrist from the screwdriver! For the final stages Cy recruited his lift-sharer work colleague to lift the beds on top of each other – those things are so heavy but I guess they have to be if you don’t want it to fall over when you climb the ladder. I did loads! I made tea, talked a lot and held some slats in place.

The boys have had great time climbing the ladder and they’ve managed to pick almost all the glow-in-the-dark stars off the ceiling now they’re in reach! Rudy gets half way up then has a panic attack and shouts “Mum-myyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!”, I keep telling him to say “help” then I might get there a bit quicker! I’ve also left Bradley’s mattress from his previous bed at the bottom of the ladder for the time being. Just in case Bradley forgets he’s in a bunk now and slithers off the bed in the night expecting the floor to be at the end of his toes immediately!

Vanish Stain Remover

I still can’t help laughing at Cy’s recent near misfortune – almost falling from the very top step backwards down the stairs holding a cup of blackberry & nettle tea! Trouble was, although he didn’t fall, somehow the entire content of the cup went behind him as he was flapping his arms to keep his balance – the tea ended up dripping down the white walls up the stairs, looking like we’d sprung a water leak! We were both a bit worst for wear after an evening out and I decided to leave it to the culprit to clean the next day… only it didn’t happen for a couple of days, then when he did try with hot soapy water the purple splodges just turned blue. It just shows you the sort of adverts running between kiddy programmes (hoping Mummy’s watching, or in my case, the child will pass the message on!) as Bradley’s response to my grumbling about the state of the walls was “Mummy you just need some Vanish!”
